Samuel Whitehurst, son of Robert Whitehurst, was born about 1700 in Bath County, NC.  Few details of his life are known, however he owned and worked a few hundred acres of land in Carteret County, NC.  He married twice, first to Sarah Nelson who was the daughter of John and Mary Nelson; and second to Abigail Wilkins who was the daughter of William and Ann Wilkins.  Samuels known children, thought to be by his first wife Sarah, were:
