WILL OF SAMUEL WHITEHOUSE (WHITEHURST) - 1756

In the name of God Amen, This 28th day of October 1754  I Samuel Whitehouse of Carteret County and Province of North Carolina being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect memory.  Praise be given to God for the same and knowing the uncertainty of this life on earth and being desirous to settle things in order do make this my  Last Will and Testament in manner and form following.  First and Principally I commend my Soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent and Christian manner as to  my Executors hereafter named shall  be thought moot and convenient and ______ such Worldly Estate as the Lord in his Mercy hath lent me my will and meaning is the same shall be imployed ______ as hereafter by thismy will is ______.  And first I do revoke and renounce _____ and make void all wills by me formerly made and declare and appoint this my Last Will and Testament.  Item, I give and bequeath unto my Loving son Robert Whitehouse my plantation at the straights Lying to the eastward of Old Topsail Inlet with all the lands and priveleges thereto belonging to him the said Robert, his heirs and assignees forever.  Also I give and bequeath unto my son aforesaid one feather bed and furniture.  Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife, Abigail Whitehouse, my son Robert Whitehouse, my Daughters Esther and Anne Whitehouse all my stock of cattle that are on my plantation on Bogue Sound to be devided into ____ equal parts or lots and each to have an equal part of said cattle.  Item I give and bequeath unto loving son-in-law William Wilkins Taylor and his heirs and assignees forever the Plantation and all the land and priveleges thereto belonging which plantation is the same on which I now dwell and lies on Bogue ____ Newport Sound.  Item I also give and bequeath unto my son Robert and his heirs and assignees forever my negro man named Jemmy and all my cattle at the straights.  Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Abigail Whitehouse, my daughter Esther and Anne Whitehouse all to them and their heirs and assignees forever all the remaining part of my estate to be equally devided between all them ____ and I do appoint my loving wife Abigail Whitehouse Executrix and Valentine Wallis Executor of this my Last Will and Testament and I leave the ____ and tuition of son Robert to my wife Abigail Whitehouse.

Carteret County - December Court 1756
Received of Abigail Whitehouse by the hands of Geo. McKane, Esq. eight shillings for fees of proving the will of Saml Whitehouse.
Present his Majesties Justices
Then was the within Will of Samuel Whitehouse proved in Jun Court by oath of George McKane, Esq. one of the subscribing evidences thereto.  Jn. Smith Clerk.
These may certify that Abigail Whitehouse and Valentine Wallace the Executors within named was qualified in due form of law oredered that the Secretary have notice to these Letters Testamentary hereon.  Jn. Smith Clerk.
