Text | In the name of God Amen, the twenty second day of May in the year of our Lord, 1741. I Robert Whitehurst of the County of Carteret in the Province of North Carolina being sick and weak in body, but perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God, and therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament. That is to say: Principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul to God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian buiral at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurection shall recieve the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same in the following form and manner. After all my debts are paid, then as follows: Item: I give and bequeath to my eldest son Samuel Whitehurst one cow and yearling and one tenon saw. Item: I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Ellinor Nelson, the high bedstead bed and furniture thereto belonging, and all the remainder of my chattle at the Hunting Quarters and eight yards of garlets holland to be equally devided betwenn my two daughters Ellinor and Sary. Item: All the rest of my estate I give and bequeath to my loving son William Whitehurst. I do ordain this to be my last Will and Testemant whereunto I set my hand and seal.
